Joining Zapier

I joined Zapier in November 2021 as a Technical Talent Sourcer on the Talent Acquisition team. My role specialized in attracting top talent for various positions, utilizing modern recruiting tools like Gem, LinkedIn Recruiter, Talent Insights, and Greenhouse. From the outset, my focus was on executing management and executive leadership searches, including roles such as Engineering Managers, Account Executives, Product Marketing Managers, and Site Reliability Engineers.

Talent Acquisition Sourcing

In my position, I conducted extensive market research to identify target industries, companies, and roles. This research leveraged insights on industry trends, financial statuses, acquisitions, and market events. By employing Boolean search strings, I generated a qualified and diverse candidate pipeline, actively seeking talent from underrepresented groups in the tech industry.

Key skills and tools utilized:

I performed thorough phone screens with sourced candidates, assessing their backgrounds and experiences while promoting Zapier's unique appeal. My role required cultivating strong relationships with recruiters, business leaders, and hiring managers to understand hiring needs and collaborate on innovative sourcing strategies in a competitive market.

Engaging Content Creation

My role at Zapier also involved creating compelling content and email campaigns to drive user engagement and encourage top talent to join the team. Utilizing videos, GIFs, and persuasive messaging, I crafted campaigns that resonated with the audience and optimized conversions.

I led initiatives to enhance and scale Zapier's sourcing capabilities, including candidate tagging, organizational microsites, conference and event strategies, and recruiting booth construction.

Community Events Lead

In addition to my role in talent acquisition, I served as the Community Outreach & Events Committee Lead for Zapier's BIPOC Employee Resource Group (ERG). Leading a committee of five, I was responsible for fostering a sense of belonging among employees identifying as BIPOC. We organized virtual and in-person events to build community and celebrate diversity.

Building A Talent Community

One of my significant contributions was building and managing Zapier's talent acquisitions team talent community from scratch. I created a tagging system that allowed us to label and mark candidates by skills and departments, enabling us to re-engage with top talent efficiently. This process involved collecting, analyzing, and reporting data trends to our team, significantly enhancing our sourcing capabilities.
